Installation "Land of Plenty"
In 2009, my colleague from the University of Gdansk, Marek Radtke, who studied at the Higher Teacher Training College in the Department of Primary Education with Art Education, emigrated to Germany immediately after graduation (FRG), wrote to me asking me to prepare 10 designs on cardboard in the format of CD covers.
He then put them into plastic CD cases and intended to show them at exhibitions throughout Europe. As he wrote to me, he approached several artist friends with this idea. I sent him my designs and completely forgot about it. I was surprised when, at the end of September, I received a parcel in the post with these CD designs. When I unpacked it and laid the designs out on the floor of my studio, they formed a very interesting composition.
Not long ago, on 19 October, another meeting was held at the Galeria Walki Młodych (Youth Fight Gallery) under the slogan ‘Land of Plenty’. I received an invitation to participate in this exhibition a few weeks earlier, and I immediately came up with the idea that my CD designs would create the perfect land of plenty. I stuck them onto canvas and exhibited them in this form at Jan Rylk’s Walka Młodych gallery.
